Overview
This 4-day itinerary via the Chogoria-Sirimon route offers a challenging yet rewarding experience to summit Mount Kenya, one of Africa’s most iconic peaks.
Itinerary
Day 1 :
Chogoria Gate to Point Lenana (3,985 meters)
Begin your trek at Chogoria Gate, a lower altitude starting point.
Ascend through lush rainforests, encountering diverse flora and fauna.
Reach Point Lenana, a scenic viewpoint offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Camp at a designated campsite near Point Lenana.
Day 2 :
Point Lenana to Summit (5,199 meters) and Descent to Old Moses Camp
Summit Mount Kenya, the highest peak in Africa, following a challenging but rewarding trail.
Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape from the summit.
Descend to Old Moses Camp, located in a moorland zone with unique vegetation.
Day 3 :
Old Moses Camp to Met Station Camp
Continue your descent through the moorlands and alpine zones.
Reach Met Station Camp, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
Day 4 :
Met Station Camp to Naro Moru River Gate
Descend to Naro Moru River Gate, the final destination of your trek.
Enjoy the scenic views and the refreshing atmosphere of the river valley.
Key Points:Difficulty: Challenging, suitable for experienced hikers and climbers.
Preparation: Proper physical fitness, acclimatization, and necessary equipment are essential.
Highlights: Stunning mountain views, diverse ecosystems, and the thrill of summiting Mount Kenya.
Accommodation: Camping in designated campsites throughout the trek.
Best Time to Climb: December to February and June to September (dry seasons).
